Michael Markides

Michael Markides

Research Manager, Metering & Energy Management, IMS Research

Michael Markides is a senior analyst with IMS Research, and research group manager of the Metering & Energy Management group. Michael has covered the market for utility meters, smart meters and the smart grid for over five years at IMS Research. Michael routinely publishes detailed market studies covering market activities for water, gas, heat and electricity distribution, and routinely chairs and speaks at industry events worldwide.

Prior to joining IMS Research, Michael worked as an engineer in the energy and electronics sectors, working for Flare Industries and VI Technology respectively, in project management roles.

Ash Sharma

Ash Sharma

Senior Research Director, IMS Research

Ash Sharma is the Senior Research Director for IMS Research’s PV Research Group overseeing the entire group’s activities in this field and leading a team of analysts based in the UK, US and China. Ash joined IMS Research in 2004 and has been an active commentator on the industry since then, and was responsible for establishing IMS Research's PV Research Group in early 2006, by publishing the industry's first and still leading intelligence report on the global PV inverter market.

Aside from covering all aspects of the PV supply chain, Ash has also been responsible for leading IMS Research's Power & Energy Research Group which covers almost every segment of the power electronics industry, including power generation, power conversion, control and management. Ash has in the past been heavily involved in the power supply and power semiconductor areas, having authored several syndicated research reports and is a well-known figure within the power electronics sector, regularly publishing articles and editorials.

Ash has been involved in the research industry for more than 10 years; prior to joining IMS Research, Ash was employed by a London-based research firm, where he spent several years researching state-of-the-art electronics equipment, with clients including many of world's largest multi-national electronics suppliers.

Adrian Lloyd

Adrian Lloyd

Executive Vice President, IMS Research

Adrian is responsible for spearheading the company’s Industrial Automation division, which comprises three sub-groups and currently 16 dedicated analysts covering this space. He is also responsible for overseeing IMS Research’s Metering & Energy Management and Semiconductor research groups. Adrian’s primary expertise relates to discrete automation; his role prior to IMS Research involved hands-on design and implementation of automation control systems at a machine builder in the rubber & plastics industry.

Adrian's educational background is in electronic engineering, having received an honors degree from Sheffield Hallam University with a specialization in control systems. Adrian joined IMS Research in 1996. During his fourteen years of service at the company he has produced over 35 syndicated and custom research studies on a broad array of topics ranging from motor drives to energy systems for the telecommunications industry.

Donald Henschel

Donald Henschel

Analyst, Metering & Energy Management, IMS Research

Donald Henschel is an analyst in the Metering & Energy Management group at IMS Research. His work has included water and heat meters, power quality metering, and electricity tenant sub-meters. Additionally, he has expertise in the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and grid automation industries. He and the rest of the Metering team are based in Austin, Texas, USA.

Lisa Arrowsmith

Lisa Arrowsmith

Senior Market Analyst, Connectivity, IMS Research

Lisa Arrowsmith joined IMS Research in 2008 as an analyst for the company’s Connectivity Group. Lisa’s area of coverage includes forecasting the uptake of low power technologies for in-home applications (including home area networks for energy management), smart metering, and commercial building automation networks. Key technology focus includes IEEE 802.15.4 implementations (ZigBee, WirelessHART, ISA100, 6LoWPAN, proprietary, etc), low power Wi-Fi, EnOcean, and proprietary sub-GHz technologies.

In her previous role, as Research Analyst at Intellectual Capital Development, Ltd., Lisa was responsible for delivering custom market intelligence projects, with a specialist focus on combined cycle power generation, and steam turbine retrofit.

Lisa graduated with a First from the University of Surrey, and holds a BSc (honors) in Business Management. Lisa is now based in IMS’s headquarters in Wellingborough, UK, and can be contacted at lisa.arrowsmith@imsresearch.com.

 

Sam Wilkinson

Sam Wilkinson

Senior Research Analyst, PV Group, IMS Research

Sam Wilkinson is an analyst within the PV group. During his time working within the group, Sam has become a lead analyst in the PV inverter and PV cell and module markets, working closely with leading global suppliers to develop detailed research on these markets. More recently, Sam has been responsible for establishing primary research reports and benchmarking services for global system integrators and EPCs, expanding IMS Research’s extensive coverage of the supply chain further.

Before beginning his career at IMS Research, Sam worked as a structural engineer for one of Europe’s leading engineering firms. During this time he worked with leading companies in the construction industry on designs for some of the country’s most recognised landmarks.

Before joining IMS Research’s PV group, Sam graduated from The University of Nottingham with a degree in engineering. He is based in the company’s headquarters in Wellingborough, UK and may be contacted at sam.wilkinson@imsresearch.com
